Success is also achieved by considering as many aspects of a person as possible, or treating the whole person, and not just relieving a set of isolated ailments; the premise behind Naturopathic medicine is to find the root cause of illness and to address health concerns at their very core, rather than focusing solely on symptoms.

In order to help my patients, I need to know their story. Health problems don't start the first time that a person has a pain, or the first night of insomnia. They started well before that first bout. For example, the problem started long before one develops IBS: IBS is a symptom of the problem. That is why it is so important to take a full history--not just current things but things that may have begun in childhood. So what I do is to listen and ask questions and listen. Once we are both satisfied, we can develop a plan--the goal of which is to help you reach YOUR best state of health.

I perform a detailed patient intake, comprehensive physical exam, and order and evaluate both conventional and specialty laboratory tests. Treatment plans are developed and adapted to each individual patient with an emphasis on treating the whole person. I actively involve my patients in their treatment, empowering them to achieve and maintain optimal health.
